Got a Snail Mail for the First Time!

I got something in the mail today.

had to get rid of our addresses for privacy and safety's sake

And it’s from my friend Sheila aka Rowpa. We only got to know each other through the internet but we both are members of our university’s theater group. I had graduated then from college when she came in to the organization 2 years after. We only talk through Yahoo Messenger, Facebook and Twitter. It’s just a little sad that we couldn’t talk much like the way we used to be because of the stupid Malware virus residing in her laptop now.

She sent me a Christmas card…

"Whenever hands are clasped in prayer, our loving Lord is always there."

…with a little bookmark in it.

What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us." Ralph Waldo Emerson.

I know it’s a late Christmas and New Year greeting but it’s nobody’s fault. The Japanese post office is one of the busiest places during the winter holidays because everybody here are sending all their 年賀状 (nengajo) or New Year’s cards to their love ones and friends from different parts of the country.

This is the first time I’ve received a snail mail since I’ve lived in Japan. With all the technology that surrounds us now, it feels good to receive something which was handwritten from the heart.

With love from Rowpa.

Thanks, Rowpa! I miss our late night talks. I miss your gossip sessions, our nonstop dreaming, and even the nonsense stuff we talked about. Belated Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your family! I miss you.

our only pic together
